We had communion today at church. Since I began following Christ, communion has always been for me a time of reflective worship. Today was no different. As my pastor talked about “this body which was broken for me” I couldn’t help but think of how Christ suffered the cross for my sins. Scripture says that he was beaten beyond recognition. The Roman guards would use whips with bits of metal or bones attached to the end. This would dig into the skin and tear it away as he pulled back the whip. The blood would have poured from each lash. The blood that had to be shed for my sin atonement. The love of Christ toward me to endure such horrific death. It overwhelms me as I take the elements of the last supper. Scripture also says that this same love is for all who believe on The Lord Jesus.
